Many of our NFTY-SAR regional events are hosted by synagogues throughout our region. When a synagogue hosts an event, usually congregants from that synagogue as well as other families that live near that synagogue volunteer to house teens who are attending the event. It is expected that families who live within 30 minutes of the host congregation/venue will volunteer as host homes. If we do not secure enough spots for out-of-town participants, local teens will be required to stay in their own homes.

For most events, you will be housing the teens on Friday, and Saturday nights. Pickup at night is typically between 10:30-11:30pm and drop off in the mornings is typically between 8:30-9:30am. We will be in touch with an exact schedule in advance of the event.

Host homes need to be willing to accommodate between 4 and 10 teens (absolute minimum is 3). You can house as many teens as you can transport safely, with seatbelts, up to 10. Please know that you DO NOT need to provide beds for the teens. Each teen will bring a sleeping bag and pillow. All housing is single gender housing. Host families will provide Saturday breakfast and dinner. Late night snacks are also encouraged!

If your child is attending the Kallah you are providing housing for, you are eligible for a $25 discount on your registration as a “thank you” for hosting. Please request the discount by emailing nftysar@urj.org. Discounts that are not claimed will be credited toward our scholarship fund for teens needing financial assistance to attend NFTY-SAR events.

The next home hosted event is Winter Kallah, January 17-19 in Atlanta, GA. Please fill out the following form to signup to be a host home:
