Tasked with creating and running programs, as well as publicity and marketing, helping TYG’s with event planning, and overseeing each of their respective networks, the NFTY-SAR Regional Board is comprised of 6 positions: President, Programming VP, Social Action VP, Religious and Cultural VP, Membership VP and Communications VP. All Regional Board positions will be held by one person.

Below is a description of the positions, as defined in the NFTY-SAR constitution, and the responsibilities of each. If you have any questions about the role each position plays or want further description, please do not hesitate to ask the current Regional Board member holding that position:

It shall be the duty of the President to:

  1. Call and preside over all NFTY-SAR Executive Board and sessions of Asefah.
  2. Guide the NFTY-SAR Executive Board and General Assembly in the proper execution of their aims and purposes.
  3. Consult regularly with the NFTY-SAR Regional Advisor.
  4. Be directly responsible for the execution and implementation of the Constitution of this organization and any adjunctive rules.
  5. Serve on the NFTY General Board as a liaison between NFTY and NFTY-SAR, and on any other North American or Regional committee or board deemed necessary or appropriate.
  6. Attend all NFTY-SAR Regional and potential future sub-Regional events.
  7. Maintain the President’s Network.
  8. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  9. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities.

 

It shall be the duty of the Programming Vice-President to:

  1. Serve as proxy to the NFTY-SAR President.
  2. Call and preside over any NFTY-SAR Executive or General Board Assembly meetings in the event that the NFTY-SAR president is unable to attend.
  3. Serve on the NFTY General Board as a liaison between NFTY and NFTY-SAR, and on any other North American or Regional committee or board deemed necessary or appropriate.
  4. Educate all members of NFTY-SAR on the NFTY Study Theme.
  5. Educate NFTY-SAR TYGs’ about the NFTY Nilmad V’Na’Aseh Award.
  6. Encourage all TYG boards to plan at least one (1) event per term utilizing the NFTY Study theme in accordance with the NFTY Constitution.
  7. Educate all members of NFTY-SAR on the range of programs NFTY has to offer, and be a resource for materials and information on those programs.
  8. Use programming as a medium to discuss important past, current, and spiritual events.
  9. Oversee the planning and implementation of programming at NFTY-SAR Regional events.
  10. Serve as a resource for TYG programming, Multi-TYG programming, Regional programming, and Multi-regional Programming.
  11. Assist the NFTY-SAR office in compiling and maintaining a Program Bank.
  12. Maintain the Programming Vice-Presidents’ Network.
  13. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  14. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities

 

It shall be the duty of the Social Action Vice-President to:

  1. Serve on the NFTY General Board as a liaison between NFTY and NFTY-SAR, and on any other North American or Regional committee or board deemed necessary or appropriate.
  2. Keep all members of NFTY-SAR informed on various Social Action issues and the NFTY Social Action Initiatives.
  3. Oversee the planning and implementation of NFTY-SAR and STR’s Mitzvah Corps Project, Camp Jenny.
  4. Implement a Social Action Project throughout the year, in some way giving back to the community.
  5. Maintain the Social Action Vice Presidents’ Network.
  6. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  7. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities.

 

It shall be the duty of the Religious and Cultural Vice-President to:

  1. Serve on the NFTY General Board as a liaison between NFTY and NFTY-SAR, and on any other North American or Regional committee or board deemed necessary or appropriate.
  2. Keep all members of NFTY-SAR informed on various Religious and Cultural issues
  3. Oversee the planning and implementation of all worship services at NFTY-SAR regional events.
  4. Serve as a resource for worship services and cultural activities for TYG, regional, and possible future sub-regional events.
  5. Lead prayers before and after meals during NFTY-SAR regional events.
  6. Maintain the Religious and Cultural Vice-Presidents’ Network.
  7. Oversee the NFTY-SAR Regional Songleading Network and work with the NFTY-SAR Head Songleader.
  8. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  9. Serve as a liaison between the region and the NFTY-SAR Regional Rabbi.
  10. Assist in the auditions and selections of Regional Songleaders.
  11. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities.

 

It shall be the duty of the Membership Vice President to:

  1. Create or assist in the creation of membership programs (Big Brother/Big Sister mentor program) and/or mixers at regional events.
  2. Work with the Regional Board to design and create NFTY‐SAR promotional videos for regional and North American events and publish them in a timely fashion.
  3. Maintain the Membership Vice President Network throughout NFTY-SAR.
  4. Keep track of the NFTY-SAR Mixer Bank.
  5. Help NFTY-SAR Membership Vice Presidents oversee the growth of their JYGs as the members transition into TYG/High School.
  6. Serve as SARina’s keeper.
  7. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  8. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities.

 

It shall be the duty of the Communications Vice-President to:

  1. Take minutes at all NFTY-SAR sessions of Asefah and Executive Board meetings when deemed necessary, and publish them in a timely fashion.
  2. Publish a NFTY-SAR Newsletter at every regional event.
  3. Maintain the Communications Vice President Network throughout NFTY-SAR.
  4. Work with the Regional Board to design and create NFTY‐SAR merchandise.
  5. Serve as a role model for all members of NFTY on a local, regional, and North American level, and to appropriately represent NFTY-SAR to others.
  6. Take on any additional duties, which may be necessary to fulfill any of the above responsibilities.
